A Guide to the Emerald City
Are you considering a move to Seattle, WA – the Emerald City? There are many reasons to move to Seattle, including the job market, professional sports teams, health consciousness, music, art, and an outdoor enthusiast’s dream world. Please take a moment and read our reasons for living in Seattle.
Job Market
Seattle has one of the hottest job markets in the country. Seattle is home to Microsoft, Amazon, Expedia, Zillow, and countless other technology companies. And do not forget Boeing and Starbucks. Both of these companies were founded in Seattle and contribute to our desirable job market, where the median income for the state is 26% higher than the national average.
We Love Sports
Yes, our Seattle teams give us a lot of highs and lows, but we love them just the same. Our Major League Baseball team, the Seattle Mariners, plays their home games at T-Mobile Park in Seattle’s South Downtown (SoDo). SoDo is also home to the NFL Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field, also home to the MLS champion Seattle Sounders. And if you are a hockey fan, we just scored an NHL team, the Seattle Kraken. And let’s not forget about the WNBA champs, the Seattle Storm. Our sports teams are rooted in the fabric of Seattle culture.
Healthy Lifestyle
Seattle is ranked as one of the most health-conscious cities in the United States. Maybe it is all the fresh seafood and farm-grown vegetables combined with unbeatable outdoor activities. Grocery stores like Whole Foods, Sprouts Farmers Market, and even the world-famous Pike Place Market make wholesome fresh food easy to find.
Music and Art Scene
Seattle was the home of the 90’s grunge scene. Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains started here. But, the music scene is not just grunge anymore. There are rock, pop, and indie bands that all call Seattle home. You can experience the entire music spectrum by visiting the Museum of Pop Culture (formerly known as the “Experience Music Project.” Seattle also has Benaroya Hall, where our Seattle Symphony performs.
An Outdoor Enthusiast’s Paradise
One of the biggest reasons to live in Seattle is you will never grow tired of the stunning views of our mountains, lakes, rivers, and Puget Sound. On a clear day, you can see Mount Rainier to the south, Mt Baker to the north, the northern Cascades to the east, and the Olympic Mountains to the west; it’s a scene you will never forget. Yes, the waterways surrounding Seattle can create some challenges for driving in the area, but we gladly make it a tradeoff. And you might have heard that it rains a lot here. It’s true, but the summer months make up for the rainy winter weather. Summer in Seattle is warm, with little to no rain, so most Seattleites spend their summers outside – hiking, camping, and boating.
